Fertility Goddess

This unique sculpture was carved in Staffordshire sandstone, the natural coloration is very subtle and small fragments of Quartz glisten in the sunlight.

The carved sun beams which form the hair and the ancient pose of a woman cradling her stomach link the idea of human and natural fertility, a woman's ability to bear children and the daily rebirth of the sun.

This sculpture was commissioned as part of a series celebrating the forces of nature, it is sited in a private garden with four other sculptures which Caron created.
